1. Update Your Amazon Author Page

Updating your Amazon Author Page is a quick and easy way to entice new readers to pick up your book this holiday season. Create a couple of festive banners to showcase your books, their blurbs, and a couple of positive reviews. Then, on every Amazon book page, you can add a sentence in bold writing at the top of the synopsis highlighting that your book would make a great Christmas gift. Make sure you keep in mind some holiday-themed keywords that relate to your book when writing this.

2. Run an Ebook or Audiobook Promo

Utilize popular book shopping days and run an ebook or audiobook promo for your book on sites like BargainBooksy, FussyLibrarian, and EReader News Today. These book promo sites will round up your book, along with others in the same genre that also booked that promo date, and send the promo straight into the email inbox of your ideal readers. These promos can cost anywhere from $25 to $100 per day, depending on your book genre and the site, but are definitely worth it during the holiday season.

Here are some popular days people buy books during the holidays (make sure you hurry to grab these dates, though!):

  • December 24th (Christmas Eve)
  • December 26th – 31st (Post-Christmas)

3. Run a Holiday-Themed Facebook/Instagram Ad

A Facebook/Instagram ad can help you target your ideal readers directly through their advanced targeting feature. And you don’t need to spend too much! I recommend running a $5/day ad from December 24th to 31st.

When creating your ad, remember that the less text you have, the better. If you’re including your book’s blurb or a review, keep it to one or two sentences. Here are some examples.

4. Send a Festival Email Newsletter

Take time on Christmas Eve or right after the holidays to remind your newsletter subscribers about your book. Maybe you can even sweeten the deal and offer a subscriber-only deal or giveaway. That way, they are incentivized to check out your book.

5. Collaborate with Other Authors

Reach out to like-minded authors and see if they are interested in collaborating. This is a fun way to network while reaching your ideal readers! Here are some collaboration ideas:

  • Share a picture of all the authors’ books together.
  • Post a video discussing how you and X number of authors offer your books at a discount for a limited time.
  • Create a carousel post of all the authors’ books with the tropes (See photo below).
  • Do a newsletter swap where you all share each other’s books and buy links in the newsletter.

Your book deserves some extra love this holiday season! Whether you use one or a combination of these book marketing ideas, you’ll surely boost its sales.
