So, you’re Instagram isn’t growing, huh? We’ve all been there before. The Instagram algorithm doesn’t love you as much as before, and you feel like there’s no hope for getting back into the feeds of your ideal readers. Well, guess what? There is hope!
Here are 3 tips for giving your Instagram the boost it needs!
1. Spend 15 Minutes Engaging on Instagram Every Day
Whether you’re posting or not, spend at least 15 minutes engaging on Instagram. This includes a combination of:
- Liking and commenting on photos/videos in your Instagram feed
- Following new ideal readers by looking up relevant hashtags
- Going through your followers and engaging with their recent posts
By consistently engaging in your feed, with ideal readers, and with your followers, the algorithm will take more and more notice of you and, eventually, start pushing your content back into people’s feeds.
2. Post Valuable Content
I’ve noticed a lot with my clients that they aren’t growing because they aren’t posting valuable content. Of course, it’s great to mix in photos of your cat or what you’re eating, but if that’s all your author Instagram account consists of…well, ask yourself. Is this a personal or author account? If this is your author account that will help promote your books and build brand awareness for your books, you need to post content that offers value to your readers, too.

3. Post Consistently
I always say this, but that’s because it’s true! Posting consistently and somewhat frequently is the BEST way to keep your account growing steadily. It keeps your account in people’s Instagram feeds and ensures you stay at the top of your audience’s minds. This is what we ALL want.
